The Symbiosis sculpture

Symbiosis symbolizes the commitment to save the Archipelago Sea

symbiosis logoSymbiosis is a sculpture by Finnish artist Stefan Lindfors, and his donation to protection work of the Archipelago Sea. The sculpture pictures a fish and a bird in symbiosis - examples of our unique nature that benefit from our efforts to save the sea.

The name "Symbiosis" signifies coexistence and reciprocal interaction that benefits all parties. The 3500 name plates that will eventually cover the sculpture are a sign of the joint commitment of the citizens to protect our shared archipelago and the Archipelago Sea.

The Sculpture was unveiled by Finland's Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen and Estonia's Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas during the 5th Annual Forum of the EUSBSR and 16th Baltic Development Forum Summit on 3 June 2014 in Turku.

Symbiosis is located in Turku, Finland, just next to the  museum ship "Suomen Joutsen", on the west bank of River Aura.
